What is the Business Impact Dashboard?

The Business Impact Dashboard from Sideways 6 is a built-in tool that helps you track the real business outcomes of your idea program, from cost savings, revenue generation to delivery speed, engagement, and carbon reduction, it's all fully customizable to what you want to measure, giving you and your stakeholders a clear, centralised view of the metrics that matter to your business.

What kind of impact can I track?

You can track metrics across any area relevant to your goals.

Common examples include:

  • Business improvement: cost savings, revenue generated, hours saved
  • Sustainability: CO₂e avoided, waste reduced, energy saved
  • Idea velocity: average time to delivery
Admins choose which metrics to display based on your program objectives.

 

Do I need to do any setup?

No setup is required for Idea Managers. Admins configure the dashboard during onboarding or programme setup, and your team can simply view the data as it becomes available. 

Engagement Dashboard set up
No setup needed. It’s ready to go out of the box. You’ll start seeing insights as soon as people begin interacting with your campaigns. 

Business Impact Dashboard:

Most of it is ready automatically. To make sure you’re tracking the right things, like cost savings, time saved, or any other impact, admins can quickly configure the dashboard during onboarding or campaign setup.

It’s fully customizable, so you can focus on the metrics that matter most to your programme. Once set up, your team can view the data as it comes in. 

Can I customise the metrics shown?

Yes – the dashboard is fully configurable by admins. You can tailor it to show the metrics that matter most to your organisation, whether that’s cost savings, hours saved, engagement scores, CO₂e reductions, or something else entirely.

We don’t track impact yet. Can we still use this?

Absolutely. The dashboard works at any stage of maturity. Even if you’re not tracking full impact yet, it automatically shows delivery stats and forecasts potential value based on your data. It’s a great way to start building the case for impact—without needing everything in place first.

What other metrics and dashboards can I use to track ideas?

We have two dashboards: Business Impact Dashboard and the Engagement Dashboard,

Unlike the Business Impact Dashboard which shows the value delivery stand point, our Engagement Dashboard helps you understand how employees are interacting with your campaigns. 

What you can measure on the Engagement Dashboard:

  • Track engagement at a glance: See total submissions, unique submitters, likes, comments, and audience engagement percentages.
  • Visualize funnel and pipeline insights: Identify bottlenecks as ideas move through stages and view a real-time snapshot of open and closed ideas.
  • Monitor actionable trends: Check weekly or monthly views of engagement to spot when your promotional comms around a campaign is having impact, or when you need a boost.
  • Customize insights: Configure the "Ideas by custom field" chart to focus on metrics that matter to you, like benefit type or department submissions.
  • Transformation: belief in strategy, participation, organisational health
  • Employee engagement: NPS, retention rates, % of workforce contributing
  • And more.

Using the data

How is the data calculated?

  • Overview Metrics: Calculated from delivered ideas using your chosen number or currency custom fields (e.g., cost saved, time saved).
  • Idea Delivery: Based on ideas reaching the "Delivered" phase, showing volume and average time to implement.
  • Pipeline Potential Value: Estimated using Sideways 6’s weighted delivery logic, based on your campaign history, company data, or Sideways 6 benchmarks.

How accurate is the Potential Value estimate?

The dashboard uses weighted pipeline logic that is similar to sales forecasting. Sideways 6 uses your campaign’s historical data to calculate delivery probabilities. If that’s not available yet, we use your company-wide data. And if needed, we fall back on trusted Sideways 6 benchmarks until your own results are available, so the dashboard is very reliable and accurate. 

Will this help me report back to leadership?

Absolutely. The dashboard gives you clear, visual data on what’s been delivered, what’s in the pipeline, and what the potential business value is, ideal for stakeholder updates, ROI reporting, or board packs. 

Is this included in the Enterprise plan?
